Castle Butte was one of the foundation kennels to assist in
the genetic research which produced the
Optigen PRCD test for a
genetic form of Progressive Retinal Atrophy in the Australian
Cattle Dog. Dr. Ackland made several visits to visit our
dogs, do eye exams, and draw blood for testing. We strive
in our breeding program to erradicate PRA by testing all our
dogs as well as breeding only those clear of genetically
transmitted PRA.
